STEAM Elementary Kids Camp

This camp is an ideal way to provide your child with more exposure to 21st Century learning skills through lessons on STEAM. Students will use collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking skills to explore aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. They work in the creative spaces at The Point, design inventions and solve problems. Students will use state-of-the art laboratories to further explore topics in engineering, scratch video game programming, digital movie making, math jobs, 3D modeling, physics and mechanics. We will take a virtual summer vacation, experience different types of art, use the design process through an engineering task and learn about STEAM jobs and their impact on the world. Every day we will explore a new skill and component of STEAM! Let us help you best position your child for the new age of learning based on their interests, personality and learning style and prepare for a fun lifetime of learning!

STEM ART Creative Time Warp

Our artistic inventors begin by making their own time machines used to travel throughout history. Explore and investigate art from the beginning of time such as cave paintings to present day contemporary art! Using Virtual Reality, they will visit museums all over the world, use an Interactive White Board to track your travels through time, and create your own masterpieces inspired by what you find! Thinking like an artist will spark your child’s imagination and curiosity to build creative skills.

STEAM Powered Super Sleuths Summer Camp

affiliated with the Ohio Attorney General’s Science School

Want a chance to find out “Who done it?” Become a forensic scientist and criminal investigator solving fictitious crimes during our STEAM powered super sleuth’s camp. Students will participate in more than 25 hands-on, inquiry-based lessons and experiments correlated with the Ohio Department of Education’s Fourth and Fifth Grade Subject Area Standards. During this weeklong camp, students will solve two crimes through completing tasks that require them to apply their core knowledge through solving relevant challenges and activities, all the while developing perseverance and tenacity. Students are provided a window into the careers of forensic scientists and criminal investigators by viewing short accompanying video clips with each lesson, made by the experts at Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation. In addition, this camp will provide students with many opportunities to develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills by taking part in daily Maker Space Projects.

STEAM Ahead Camp

STEAM Ahead on a journey to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Explore the human body, dissect a pig heart and extract your own DNA. Then, design and print your own 3-D model and exercise your brain building structures and learning how trebuchets and catapults work. Use Legos to engineer the strongest/fastest motorized car. Be creative, design and make interesting art projects. Tour Otterbein’s Maker Space at the Point and use tools made with their LASER cutter. Finally, learn about economics, binary code and calculate your running speed in MPH to put your math skills to work. This camp is educational and fast moving with lots of hands on activities, experienced teachers and fun staff.

Engineering 101 with LEGO Robotics

Explore the exciting world of engineering by building and programming with LEGO EV3 Robots. Students will learn design principles and engineering fundamentals while having hands-on fun. They will work in twos, constructing various autonomous robots for Sumo and to complete missions as well as building driver-controlled robots for competition in Battle Bots and Maze Runner.

Both beginners and experienced students will have great fun and learn new things. Advanced object-based programming, incorporating math-based control functions with encoders, light, infrared and ultrasonic sensors will be covered as well as building and programming basics.

Otterbein’s Engineering Solutions Summer Camp

Students will learn to apply the engineering approach to problem solving. Through guided instruction, students will gain experience and understanding of 3D modeling, 3D printing, circuitry, and coding. With these new skill sets, students will apply the design process of brainstorming, prototyping, designing, building and testing to solve a variety of problems. They will have the chance to present their work to their peers and family on the last day of camp.

Middle School Drone Camp

A one of a kind opportunity for students to experience the excitement of drone technology. Learn to design, construct, and race the fastest first person view (FPV) microdrones in the world! During the week you will not only learn to fly a drone, you will also work through the engineering design process to develop, assemble, and configure a drone. You will learn about drone racing, 3D modeling, 3D printing, graphic design, basic electronics and even drone tuning with Betaflight.

Cybersecurity camp

Cybersecurity attacks and the need for jobs to stop them is increasing! Want to know more about Cybersecurity? Are you interested in how hacking works? Then this camp is for you! In this camp analysts will look at how to protect yourself online from hackers with good cyber hygiene. Intro into PEN testing, Social Engineering, Analyzing Vulnerabilities, System hacking, and Cryptography. We also cover legal and ethical compliance. You will get a mix of some hands-on and lab simulations.
