WESTERVILLE, Ohio— Partnering with the PAST Foundation once again, The Point welcomed fourth through eighth graders to the FIRST Lego League (FLL): Smash Hits summer camp, July 10-14.

Campers began the week by building a LEGO EV3 robot. Once completed, their focus shifted to programming the robot to complete specific tasks.

Tasks were a part of the FLL Animal Allies Challenge, a mission that challenges the campers to come up with creative solutions to improve interactions between people and animals. These tasks included teaching a LEGO dog to sit and making their robot climb a LEGO wall.

Campers found the camp to be fun and helpful.

“It gives me a basic knowledge of coding so I can use this knowledge in the future,” said eighth grader Akul.

Campers presented their newfound problem solving, collaboration, teamwork, programming and mechanical design skills at the end of the week via a poster session and robot showcase.
